Now Treating Boxelder Bugs, Stink Bugs, Spiders & Asian Beetles in Dubuque, Galena & SW Wisconsin — Book Now to Stay Ahead of Fall Invaders

Kramer pest control - now treating for Boxelder bugs, stink bugs, spiders & Asian beetles in Dubuque, Galena & SW Wisconsin

Cool nights and warm south-facing walls mean one thing across the tri-state area: fall invaders are looking for a place to overwinter. Kramer Pest Control is now offering targeted fall pest control services for homes and businesses in Dubuque, IA, Galena, IL, and Southwest Wisconsin.

These pests don’t usually eat your food or chew your wood. They want warmth. Once they slip into wall voids, attics, and around windows, they can show up indoors all winter and again on the first warm days of spring.

Why treat now?

Late August through October is the window. On sunny days you’ll see clusters on the south and west sides of homes in Dubuque, Asbury, Peosta, Galena, Platteville, and surrounding towns. Perimeter treatment plus exclusion works far better before they get inside than after they’re already in the walls.

Kramer Pest Control has served the area since 1995. Treatments are customized, free estimates are available for most services (bed bug inspections excluded), and work is backed by a satisfaction guarantee. Call (563) 217-1402.

The four fall pests we’re treating

Boxelder bugs

Black with red-orange markings, about ½ inch long. They feed on boxelder, maple, and ash trees in summer, then pile onto sunny walls in fall. Harmless to people and pets, but hundreds on siding or inside a living room is a mess. Don’t crush them if they get indoors—vacuum and discard the bag.

Brown marmorated stink bugs

Shield-shaped, mottled brown, about the size of a dime. They release a strong odor when crushed or disturbed. They gather on warm exterior walls the same way boxelders do, then squeeze through tiny gaps.

Asian lady beetles (often called Asian beetles)

Orange to reddish with variable black spots. Many have an “M” or “W” mark behind the head. They look like ladybugs but cluster in large numbers, can stain surfaces, bite if handled, and trigger allergies in some people. They also give off an odor when disturbed.

Spiders

As other insects move toward the house, spiders follow the food. You’ll see more webs in corners, garages, basements, and around windows. Most common household spiders in this region are a nuisance, not a medical emergency—but a sudden increase often means other pests are already active.

What Kramer’s fall service includes

  • Inspection of typical entry points: windows, doors, utility penetrations, soffits, siding gaps, and south/west walls
  • Exterior perimeter treatment timed for fall invaders
  • Guidance on sealing and exclusion (caulk, weatherstripping, door sweeps, screens)
  • Interior recommendations if pests have already made it inside
  • Follow-up as needed

DIY sprays on the siding often miss the gaps they actually use and can scatter insects into the house. A targeted professional barrier plus sealing is the combination that holds through winter.

Quick homeowner steps while you wait for service

  1. Seal cracks around windows, doors, pipes, and wires.
  2. Repair screens and add or replace door sweeps.
  3. Vacuum indoor invaders—don’t smash stink bugs or beetles.
  4. Reduce clutter against the foundation and keep exterior lights from blasting the walls all night if possible.

Those steps help. They don’t replace a fall treatment if you’re already seeing clusters.
